The following Blog post is part of an article I wrote after hearing Vicki Christensen speak in Phoenix, Arizona. Her message is poignant for all of us. Please enjoy!
DON’T COUNT THE DAYS MAKE THE DAYS COUNT
Vicki Christenson, owner and founder of Creative Writing and Design, recently shared her model for “making the days count” at a recent In the Flow Marketing meeting.
By utilizing this method, you will get more out of your days and your time. Through categorizing your day into three areas, you are enabled to create a productive and efficient workday. Pre-planning assists us in reaching our goals and living a more balanced life.
Focus Days- Put your energy and your time into a specific project/task letting go of those things that could interrupt your concentration and take your attention.
Spend your entire day immersed in what you are focused upon enabling you to put heart and soul into your creative process.
Buffer Days-These are the “clean up” days where you give your attention to those things that you just need to get done but keep putting off or take care of the many little things that seem to crop up. For me, this has become a day when I “face” the things that I may not really want to do, but that require my attention and affect other days of the week.
Free Days-“Free” just the word is excitement. Having taken care of the needs of the Buffer Days and the Focus Days-Free Days-at least one a week allow for the “sharpen the saw” time, “me time” and “play time”. These days are critical to leading a healthy, balanced lifestyle. How about scheduling at least one Free Day each week?
